Prince Gong Mansion, also known as Prince Kung’s Mansion, is located in the Xicheng District of Beijing, China. The address is No. 17 Qianhai West Street, Gongwangfu, Xicheng District, Beijing.
The distance between the Forbidden City and Prince Gong Mansion is approximately 2.5 kilometers (1.5 miles) and can be reached in several ways.
Bus: If you have just finished your tour in the Forbidden City, you can take bus 111 at the north gate (Gate of Divine Prowess), get off at Dongguanfang Stop (东官房), and walk about 500 meters to the northwest to reach Prince Gong’s Mansion. The whole journey takes about 30 minutes, and the fare is 2 RMB.
Subway: If you have exited the Forbidden City from the east gate, you can first walk east to the Jingyu Hutong Station (金鱼胡同) on subway line 8, transfer to subway line 6 at Nanluoguxiang (南锣鼓巷), get off at Beihaibei (北海北 Beihai North), and walk about 700 meters to the north to reach the mansion. The whole journey takes about 40 minutes, and the fare is 3 RMB.
Taxi: You can easily hail a taxi outside the Forbidden City and give the driver the address of Prince Gong Mansion or show him the following words “请带我到恭王府”. The journey should take around 15 -20 minutes and costs 16 – 20 RMB, depending on traffic.
Bike: There are many shared bikes parked on the street of Beijing. You can scan the QR code on it and ride on to Prince Gong’s Mansion from the Forbidden City. It will take about 20 minutes and cost you 2 RMB.
Walk: If you are fit enough, you can also walk to the mansion, by which you will pass Jingshan Park, Beihai Park, and some alleyways. It takes about 43 minutes and is a great way to gain a better understanding of ordinary people’s life in Beijing.
