Zhenjiang Museum (镇江博物馆), established in 1958, finds its roots in the historic premises of the former British Consulate in Zhenjiang, built in 1890. As one of the earliest consulates constructed by the British along the coastal and riverside regions of China, the museum comprises five East Indian-style buildings, reflecting a unique architectural heritage. The entire museum complex spans over 20,000 square meters, with a building area of 10,600 square meters, housing an impressive collection of over 30,000 artifacts. The exhibits range from artifacts dating back to the Stone Age to cultural relics from the Ming and Qing dynasties, along with a remarkable collection of 100,000 ancient books.
The museum’s original section features beautifully landscaped areas such as the Embroidery Garden, Rockery Garden, Azalea Garden, Citrus Garden, Rose Garden, and a Water Theater.
