Dishuitan Waterfall – Ticket, Opening Hours, Location, and Highlights

dishuitan waterfall guanling

Dishuitan Waterfall (滴水滩瀑布), located 6 kilometers west of Huangguoshu Waterfall, stands as a majestic natural wonder towering at a total height of 410 meters, six times the height of Huangguoshu. The lowest tier descends a staggering 130 meters, exuding an aura of grandeur and power. From the vantage point atop Dapo Peak, the entire cascade unfolds like a celestial maiden draped in a white gown, gracefully emerging from the vast expanse of lush greenery.

Surrounding the waterfall are the picturesque villages of the Buyi ethnic group, nestled amidst charming terraced fields known as Jiwo Tian. Here, amidst the serene countryside, the cascading tiers of waterfalls, and the tranquil ambiance of the Buyi villages, a breathtaking rural landscape unfolds like a masterpiece painting.

Dishuitan Waterfall hangs precipitously from the peaks of Guansuoling Mountain, comprised of three major waterfalls and dozens of smaller ones. The uppermost is Liantian Waterfall (Connecting to the sky waterfall), followed by Chongkeng Waterfall, and finally Gao Tan Waterfall. This collection of waterfalls embodies a multitude of characteristics – height, size, abundance, beauty, and uniqueness—all in one place, surpassing Huangguoshu Waterfall both in total height and individual grandeur. The landscape is framed by two opposing mountains, Dapo Peak to the east and Guansuoling to the west, with the Baoling River Gorge plunging 700 meters deep in between.

The morphology of Dishuitan Waterfall is marked by its peculiarities. At the highest tier, the waterfall cascades through a narrow ravine only 3.5 meters wide, while at the lowest tier, the width expands to a staggering 45 meters. Enveloped within the depths of the gorge, much of the waterfall remains hidden, obscured by overhanging cliffs, intermittently revealing itself in glimpses. Some parts are only discernible by the echoes of its roaring waters, shrouded in an aura of mystery and wonder, inviting exploration and admiration.
