798 Art District, also known as Dashanzi Art District, is located in the northeastern part of Beijing, China. It is situated in the Chaoyang District, approximately 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) northeast of the Forbidden City.
To get to 798 Art District from the Forbidden City, there are several transportation options available:
Bus: Take bus 109 at the north gate of the Forbidden City, transfer to bus 403 at Dongdaqiao Lukounan stop (东大桥路口南), get off at Dashanzi Lukoudong Stop (大山子路口东), and you will be right in the 798 Art District.
The journey takes about 1. 5 hours and costs 5 RMB. It is perfect for seniors since you barely need to walk.
Bus+Subway: Take bus 101, 58, or 109 towards the east at the north gate of the Forbidden City, transfer to subway line 6 at Dongsi Station (东四站) and then to subway line 14 at Jintai Road Station (金台路站), get off at Wangjing South Station (望京南站), and walk about 1 kilometer (0.65 miles) along the road to the northeast to reach the art district.
The journey takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes and costs 7 RMB. It is less time-consuming than the above option but involves a lot of walking.
Taxi: Taxis are readily available throughout Beijing and can be hailed from the street or booked through ride-hailing apps such as Didi. The journey by taxi from the Forbidden City to the 798 Art District takes approximately 30-40 minutes and the fare is about 50 RMB, depending on traffic.
