Subway:

Exit the Temple of Heaven from the north gate, walk about 500 meters to the north to take subway line 7 at Qiaowan Station (桥湾), transfer to line 4 at Caishikou Station (菜市口), and get off at the Old Summer Palace (圆明园). The journey takes about 1 hour and costs 5 RMB.

Or, you can also take subway line 5 at east gate of the Temple of Heaven, transfer to line 10 at Huixin Xijie Nankou Station (惠新西街南口) and then to line 4 at Haidian Huangzhuang Station (海淀黄庄), and finally get off at the Old Summer Palace. This option also takes about 1 hour and costs 5 RMB.

Bus:

Although there are some buses connecting these two attractions, this mode of transport involves too many transfers and consumes too much time. So, we highly recommend you against it.

Taxi:

You can also take a taxi from the Temple of Heaven to the Old Summer Palace. The trip should take around 40 minutes and the fare would be about 80 RMB, depending on traffic.
