Shichahai is a historic scenic area located in the Xicheng District of Beijing, China. It is a famous tourist destination that features three connected lakes surrounded by traditional Chinese architecture, such as old courtyards, hutongs, and siheyuan houses.
The distance between Shichahai and the Temple of Heaven is approximately 10 kilometers. There are several ways to get there from the Temple of Heaven:
Bus:
Take bus 60 at Fahua Temple Stop near the east gate of the Temple of Heaven, get off at Gulou Stop (Drum Tower, 鼓楼), walk along the street to the north, and then turn left at the first cross to reach Shichahai park. The journey takes about 50 minutes and costs 2 RMB.
Take bus 105 at Tianqiao Stop near the west gate of the Temple of Heaven, get off at Xinjie Nankou Stop (新街南口), walk along the street to the east, and turn left at the end of the road to get to Shichahai Park. The journey takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes and costs 2 RMB.
Subway:
Take subway line 8 at Tianqiao Station (天桥) near the west gate of the Temple of Heaven, get off at Shichahai Station (什刹海), walk about 50 meters along the street to the north, and turn left at the first cross to reach the park. This option takes about 30 minutes and costs 4 RMB.
Taxi:
You can take a taxi from the Temple of Heaven directly to Shichahai. It will take around 30 minutes, depending on traffic, and cost approximately 30-40 yuan. You can show the following text to the driver if you do not speak Chinese: “请带我去什刹海公园”.
