The Temple of Heaven, another popular attraction in Beijing, is located in the southern part of the city, in the Chongwen District. The distance between the two sites is approximately 5 kilometers or 3.1 miles.
Here’s how you can get to Tiananmen Square from the Temple of Heaven:
Bus: Take bus 2 or 120 at the West Gate of the Temple of Heaven (天坛公园西门) and get off at Tiananmen East Stop (天安门东站). The journey takes about 32 minutes, and costs 2 RMB.
Subway: Take subway line 8 at Tianqiao Station (天桥站) near the West Gate of the Temple of Heaven, transfer to line 1 at Wangfujing Station, and get off at Tiananmen East Station (天安门东站). The journey takes about 33 minutes and costs 3 RMB.
Or you can take subway line 5 at Tiantan East Station (天坛东门站), transfer to line 1 at Dongdan Station (东单), and get off at Tiananmen East Station (天安门东站). The journey takes about 35 minutes and costs 3 RMB.
Taxi: A taxi ride from the Temple of Heaven to Tiananmen Square takes around 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic. The taxi fare is approximately 20 RMB.
