lin'an daming mountain

Lin’an Daming Mountain (临安大明山), situated 70 kilometers from Huangshan, is a spectacular natural wonder with a topographical elevation difference of over a thousand meters. The landscape is characterized by towering peaks, deep valleys, and layered mountain ranges, earning it the nickname “Little Huangshan of Western Zhejiang.”

Legend has it that Zhu Yuanzhang, the founder of the Ming Dynasty, stationed his army in the mountains, cultivating a thousand acres of fields, recruiting soldiers, and training them rigorously. After accumulating strength and military prowess, he descended from the mountains to establish the Ming Dynasty, hence the name Daming Mountain.

Throughout the year, the scenic area offers enchanting views – from springtime verdant landscapes to summer retreats and winter skiing. Visitors can also venture through extensive caves spanning thousands of meters or traverse the thrilling suspended skywalk.

The highest peak, Daming Peak, stands at an elevation of 1489 meters, with attractions situated at altitudes exceeding a kilometer. Surprisingly, the terrain on the mountain is relatively gentle, making it easily accessible for hiking. The entire ascent takes about 4-5 hours on foot, but for those with limited physical stamina, a cable car is available for both ascent and descent, offering a three-hour panoramic journey.
