The scenic area lies approximately 280 kilometers east of the popular tourist city of Chengdu, the provincial capital of Sichuan.

The most popular way to get to Mugecuo is to drive yourself, which allows you to enjoy all the wonderful views and attractions on the road. If you do not have a car or do not want to rent one, you can also fly to Kangding (康定) first from Chengdu and then transfer to a coach or a taxi to cover the remaining 50 kilometers.
