Sichuan Art Museum (四川美术馆), located in the heart of Chengdu, serves as the headquarters for the Sichuan Provincial Artists Association. This avant-garde architectural masterpiece stands tall at 38 meters, comprising six floors above ground and two below, with a partial fourth floor. Occupying an expansive 11 acres, the museum boasts a total construction area of 19,000 square meters, resembling a horizontally placed “Ruyi,” a traditional Chinese symbol of good fortune.

The museum’s exterior is surrounded by lush green lawns adorned with six diverse sculptures, establishing itself as a cultural landmark not only in Chengdu but throughout Sichuan. As one approaches from the main entrance, the walls unfold like a drawn curtain, creating a captivating visual effect.

Entering the museum, visitors encounter a central hall spanning approximately 300 square meters, housing a 5-meter-tall modern blackwood sculpture with a circumference of 3 meters. To the left, a circular staircase leads to the second and third exhibition halls.

Since its inauguration in 1992, Sichuan Art Museum has hosted an average of 50 exhibitions annually, supplemented by 5 to 6 academic exchange activities. The museum attracts around 100,000 visitors each year. In recent years, the museum has not only hosted provincial art exhibitions but also showcased renowned artists such as Xu Beihong and Pan Tianshou. It has been a venue for national printmaking and landscape exhibitions, as well as hosting international exhibitions from Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Denmark, France, and other regions and countries.
