Longgang Tiankeng is an elliptical karst collapse crater primarily formed by the collapse of underground limestone and subsequent erosion. Legend has it that it was named “Longgang” because it was believed to be the bathing basin of the mythical character Xiaolongnü, translating to “Dragon Maiden.” Situated at an altitude of 1,113 meters with a depth exceeding 335 meters, it ranks as the third-largest tiankeng in China, following Xiaozhai Tiankeng and Dashiwai Tiankeng, and the fifth-largest in the world.

Longgang is surrounded by sheer cliffs, with narrow footpaths, some as wide as 2 meters and others less than 0.4 meters wide, offering passage. Standing on the edge of the tiankeng, one side reveals towering cliffs while the other side plunges into an abyss thousands of meters deep. The tiankeng floor is covered in pristine forests, and the surrounding area is cloaked in lush vegetation, with wild honeysuckle vines adorning even the steep crater walls, showcasing the resilience of plant life in this remarkable natural wonder.

The Cloudwalk Sky Bridge in Yunyang Longgang Scenic Area stands atop a sheer cliff at an elevation of 1,010 meters. It boasts an impressive cantilevered length of 26.68 meters, surpassing the famous glass bridge in the Grand Canyon of the United States by over 5 meters, making it the world’s longest cantilevered glass bridge. The bridge surface and railings are made of fully transparent ultra-clear glass, offering a 720-degree panoramic view. Its architectural design, perspective effects, and thrilling experience are world-class. The bridge hosts the annual World Low-Altitude Skydiving Championship, allowing people to enjoy breathtaking natural scenery while experiencing the excitement of drifting in the air.

The Cloud Rainbow Swing in Yunyang Longgang Scenic Area is perched at Monkey Cliff, approximately 600 meters above the Shisun River. This thrilling attraction features a main structure height of 108 meters, reaching speeds of approximately 120-130 kilometers per hour, with a suspension height of 96 meters and a maximum swinging distance from the cliff of about 80 meters. It holds the distinction of being the tallest, fastest, and offering the widest swing range among similar international attractions. This daring swing provides an adrenaline-pumping experience with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

The Cliff Swing in Yunyang Longgang Scenic Area is located near the Cloudwalk Sky Bridge. With a height of 12 meters and a 12-meter swinging radius at an angle of approximately 85 degrees, the experience takes about 5 minutes from start to stop. To ensure safety, the Cliff Swing at Longgang Scenic Area is exclusively open to visitors aged 18 to 48 and weighing under 85 kilograms. This thrilling attraction uses an automated system to lower the safety seat after passengers are secured, and then it swings out, providing an exhilarating experience in a weightless state. It’s a heart-pounding adventure for those seeking excitement.

The Cliffside Boardwalk in Yunyang Longgang Scenic Area is an extraordinary feat of engineering. Stretching approximately 3,320 meters along the cliffs from Yingyue Cave to Zhaokoushi, it includes a 200-meter section made entirely of transparent glass. The boardwalk consists of two parts, the Hand-in-Hand Boardwalk and the Moonlight Boardwalk. As you walk along, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of towering peaks on one side and deep valleys and ravines on the other. It feels like a thrilling journey suspended between the heavens and the earth, making it an unforgettable experience for those who dare to traverse this incredible high-altitude path.

Da’an Cave is perched within the steep cliffs on the western bank of the Shisun River in Yunyang Longgang Scenic Area. It’s situated about 200 meters above the river and 100 meters below the cliff’s top. Adjacent to the cave entrance is a seasonal waterfall that, during the rainy season, creates a cascading spectacle as it merges into the Shisun River. Da’an Cave spans approximately 3,000 meters, featuring a cavernous entrance hall with a towering height of 50 meters. Over countless millennia, the stalactites within have taken on forms resembling whimsical creatures, such as crocodiles, turtles, crabs, lobsters, and snakes, offering a vivid and captivating display of nature’s artistry.

Laozhaizi is situated atop a ridge with a serrated appearance within Yunyang Longgang Scenic Area. Inhabited by indigenous people even before the Western Zhou Dynasty, it served as a hereditary territory. Located at the highest point of the ridge, Laozhaizi was a sacred place for worshiping the goddess in ancient times and later featured the construction of a dragon pillar for religious ceremonies. Due to its ancient origins, it became known as Laozhaizi, meaning “Old Village.” From Laozhaizi, one can behold panoramic views, including the majestic Shisun River, towering limestone formations, the Longgang Tiankeng to the north, the convergence of two rivers to the south, and the picturesque rural landscapes and limestone formations to the east.

Qishan Mountain Grassland, located within Yunyang Longgang Scenic Area, is a mountainous natural landscape and a Chongqing city-level forest park. It spans an elevation range of 1,400 to 1,650 meters and covers an area of 333.33 hectares. The region is characterized by extensive pristine forests, home to valuable tree species like water fir, ginkgo, and iron blue barberry. With an average temperature of around 20 degrees Celsius, the grassland offers a cool escape from the summer heat, while the winter brings a picturesque snowy landscape. During spring and autumn, the mountain is adorned with vibrant wildflowers, painting the scenery with a riot of colors.

Shisun River, nestled within Yunyang Longgang Scenic Area, is the most picturesque stretch of the Changtan River, showcasing mesmerizing karst landscape. Stretching over 12.5 kilometers, it forms a V-shaped canyon, with its narrowest point measuring a mere 20 meters. This pristine gorge is surrounded by lush vegetation, making it a habitat for rare flora and fauna. The river’s water remains crystal clear and emerald green throughout the year, safe for direct consumption. Along the riverbanks, numerous caves dot the landscape, and colossal stalactites, resembling limestone columns, rise to heights of up to 200 meters from the steep cliffs, adding to the breathtaking scenery.
