The Yunyang Longgang Scenic Area (云阳龙缸风景区) is nestled in Yanyang County, Chongqing, China, spanning an impressive 217 square kilometers with dimensions of 37 kilometers from north to south and 19 kilometers from east to west. Location and Transportation

The Yunyang Longgang Scenic Area is located in the southeastern part of Yanyang County, Chongqing, within the territory of Qingshui Tujia Ethnic Township. It is situated southwest of Wanzhou District, neighboring Lichuan City in Hubei Province to the south, and connecting to Fengjie County in the east. The distance from Yunyang County center is approximately 68 kilometers, and it is about 147 kilometers from the main city area of Chongqing.

To get there From Chongqing: Take a high-speed train from Chongqing North Railway Station to Yunyang, which takes about 1.5 hours, and then transfer to a bus bound for Longgang Scenic area, which takes about 1 hours.

Longgang Tiankeng

Longgang Tiankeng is an elliptical karst collapse crater primarily formed by the collapse of underground limestone and subsequent erosion. Legend has it that it was named “Longgang” because it was believed to be the bathing basin of the mythical character Xiaolongnü, translating to “Dragon Maiden.” Situated at an altitude of 1,113 meters with a depth exceeding 335 meters, it ranks as the third-largest tiankeng in China, following Xiaozhai Tiankeng and Dashiwai Tiankeng, and the fifth-largest in the world.

Longgang is surrounded by sheer cliffs, with narrow footpaths, some as wide as 2 meters and others less than 0.4 meters wide, offering passage. Standing on the edge of the tiankeng, one side reveals towering cliffs while the other side plunges into an abyss thousands of meters deep.
