Terracotta Army: One of the most iconic and awe-inspiring attractions in Xi’an is the Terracotta Army, a vast collection of life-sized clay soldiers, horses, and chariots buried with China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, over 2,000 years ago. Discovered in 1974 by local farmers, the Terracotta Army is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and considered one of the greatest archaeological finds of the 20th century. Muslim Quarter and Great Mosque: Xi’an is home to one of the largest Muslim communities in China, and the Muslim Quarter is a bustling neighborhood known for its vibrant street food scene and historic architecture. Visitors can wander through narrow alleyways lined with stalls selling local delicacies such as lamb skewers, roujiamo (Chinese hamburger), and yangrou paomo (mutton soup with bread). Big Wild Goose Pagoda: Standing tall in the southern suburbs of Xi’an, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is a magnificent Buddhist pagoda that dates back to the Tang Dynasty. Built in 652 AD, the pagoda was originally constructed to house Buddhist scriptures brought back from India by the monk Xuanzang. Today, the pagoda is a symbol of Xi’an and a popular tourist attraction, offering visitors the chance to ascend to the top for panoramic views of the city and surrounding countryside.

Shaanxi History Museum: For those interested in delving deeper into Xi’an’s rich history, the Shaanxi History Museum is a must-visit destination. Located near the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the museum houses a vast collection of artifacts spanning thousands of years, including bronze ware, pottery, jade, and ancient weaponry. Highlights of the museum’s collection include the famed bronze chariots and horses unearthed from the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang.

Huaqing Palace: Nestled at the foot of Mount Li, Huaqing Palace is a historic hot spring resort that dates back over 3,000 years. Renowned for its natural beauty and cultural significance, the palace was once the site of the Tang Dynasty’s imperial hot spring baths. Visitors can explore the palace grounds, stroll through lush gardens, and relax in the soothing hot springs, all while enjoying breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
