Zhangjiakou Travel Guide

Zhangjiakou boasts a rich blend of natural and cultural attractions, featuring both forest parks and archaeological sites. Notable destinations include the Zhangbei Grasslands, Huanglong Manor, Chicheng Hot Springs, the ancient city of Xuanhua, and the Huangdi City Ruins Cultural Tourism Area. Additionally, Chongli and Chicheng are home to North China’s largest natural ski resorts, earning the nickname “Oriental Davos.” These resorts were the venues for the snow events of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

Beyond its scenic beauty, Zhangjiakou offers a variety of local delicacies such as Bashang oat noodles, Baling crabapples, and Huai’an tofu skin. The city is also known for its unique cultural heritage, including Kangbao “Errentai” folk performances, Yuxian paper-cutting art, the traditional residential architecture of Nuanquan Town in Yuxian, and the cultural legacy of the Three Ancestors in Zhuolu.

Zhangjiakou’s diverse offerings make it an attractive destination for both nature lovers and culture enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy outdoor activities, explore historical sites, and savor local cuisine, all while experiencing the rich cultural traditions that define this vibrant city.
