Rising to a staggering height of 235 meters and stretching across a vast expanse of 75 meters, this majestic stone arch bridge boasts impressive dimensions. With a substantial thickness of 150 meters and a width of 147 meters, it offers a striking spectacle of natural engineering. The arch itself reaches an average height of 96 meters, enhancing its dramatic presence. The Qinglong Bridge, the second of the Three Natural Bridges in the Yanshui River Gorge of Wulong, is a captivating sight to behold. Standing at a remarkable height of 281 meters, it claims the title of the tallest among the trio. What sets Qinglong Bridge apart is its enchanting interaction with nature. After a refreshing rain, water cascades from the bridge, creating a mystical mist that dances under the radiant sunshine. This mesmerizing phenomenon gives the impression of a dragon taking flight into the sky, earning the bridge its name. From the vantage point of Qinglong Bridge, one can witness the fascinating evolutionary journey of these remarkable natural formations.

Heilong Bridge (Black Dragon Bridge)

The Heilong Bridge, the final gem among the Three Natural Bridges in Wulong’s Yanshui River Gorge, derives its name from its mysterious and dark hole, resembling a black dragon slithering through the landscape. With an average arch height of 116 meters, it stands as the tallest of the three bridges, adding to its allure. The bridge’s apertures bear the captivating traces of water erosion, showcasing nature’s artistic influence over time. On its north side, a truly remarkable sight unfolds, with four springs gracefully cascading from the cliffside, adding a touch of enchantment to this already mesmerizing destination. The Heilong Bridge is a testament to the breathtaking wonders of natural erosion and evolution.

Tianfu Post Station

Tianfu Post Station In Three Natural Bridges

In the bottom courtyard of Tianlong Bridge at the Three Natural Bridges, there is an ancient-style quadrangle with gray walls and green tiles, known as “Tianfu Post Station.” This post station, established in the second year of Tang’s Wude period (619 AD), was a crucial relay station located between “Zuantian” and “Baiguo.” It served as an important post for transmitting official information between the ancient regions of Fuzhou and Qianzhou but was later destroyed in warfare.

The building is situated in the Wulong karst pit, under the Tianlong Bridge, at the bottom of the Tianlong Bridge. A valley road, about 5 meters wide, runs through the base, resembling an ancient post road suitable for wooden carts and horse riding. The building is shaded by the deep chasm of Tianlong Bridge, surrounded by rugged rocks and verdant shrubs, creating a gloomy and desolate atmosphere.

The structure is wooden, with a classical style, featuring a small green-tile roof and eaves with wing-like extensions. It consists of two quadrangles forming a rectangular array. The main gate includes a “Chao Gate,” and the interior courtyard has about 20 rooms arranged in four directions. The left hall served as the main hall for officials’ office and guest reception, while the right wing housed official residences and guard quarters. The courtyard also contains ancient wooden horse-drawn carriages used by officials.

It’s quite cold in the mountains, but walking and climbing uphill will keep you warm. A padded coat or a light down jacket is just fine.

The entire experience left me in awe of nature’s incredible artistry! The Three Natural Bridges – Tianlong Bridge, Qinglong Bridge, and Heilong Bridge – are absolutely breathtaking. After entering, we took an elevator down to the bottom of the gorge to start our adventure. Upon exiting the elevator, we were greeted by the Tianguan Fuyi (天官福驿), reminiscent of the movie “Curse of the Golden Flower” (满城尽带黄金甲). The rugged karst landscape combined with this ancient-style architecture gave off an inexplicable heroic… Read more »

During peak season, it’s best to get up early and head out. My friend and I set off from the base at around 7 AM and arrived at the scenic area by 8 AM, so the lines weren’t too long.

As soon as I stepped out of the elevator, I couldn’t help but marvel at the wonders of nature. I was baffled by how a mountain could have such a hole in it. The trail was around four to five kilometers long and mostly flat, making it very pleasant to walk on – all the beautiful scenery is along the same path. When you reach the exit of the scenic area, you have the option to buy a shuttle ticket… Read more »

You can only park at the visitor center, and everyone is required to take a bus to the entrance of the scenic area. After that, the announcement will inform you that the ticket package elevator requires a 1.5-hour wait. There is a rotating elevator available that doesn’t require a wait, but you need to pay an additional 50 yuan. After paying extra, it ended up being even worse. You have to walk for several dozens of minutes to take the… Read more »

Today it was drizzling lightly at Three Natural Bridges, but fortunately the steps were not slippery. It was quite tiring going up and down the steps.
There was a sedan available for 200 yuan per trip, but we decided not to take it due to the rain.
There weren’t many people, and the beautiful scenery was truly delightful.
The sight of the emerald-colored lake was extremely impressive.
The air was fresh and clean, with hints of earth and grass.

Upon entering the scenic area, you will quickly reach the elevator. Queue up for the elevator to descend into the sky pit. During peak season, the wait can be long, so plan for at least an hour. It’s faster on non-holidays. (Preferred option: elevator) After getting off the elevator, just follow the route through the scenic area. Take photos along the way. Plan around 2 hours for exploring the sky pit. Make sure to use the restroom at the entrance,… Read more »
