Highlights of Tiexi Scenic Area

The nomenclature of Tiexi varies along different segments of its riverbed and passing areas. The stretch from the source to Maluhe Village is referred to as “Ganxi.” From Maluhe Village to Longtan, it is known as “Maluhe.” The segment from Longtan to the mouth of Heitang Gou is named “Longtang River.” Continuing from Heitang Gou to the Xinqiao Cave, it becomes “Wengzihe.” The final stretch from Xinqiao Cave to the mouth of Tiexi is called “Tieshanxi.”

Tiexi’s landscape is characterized by deep and secluded canyons, narrow riverbeds, swift-flowing waters, steep cliffs, and lush forest cover. Giant rocks and shallow shoals add to the natural allure, complemented by a network of caves scattered like a chessboard. Among the renowned sites is the “Longtan” (Dragon Pool), covering an area of 300 square meters. The water in Longtan appears a mesmerizing blue, with a depth that seems bottomless.

Walking along Tiexi, a crystal-clear stream flows joyfully beneath your feet, flanked by dense vegetation that creates an overwhelmingly green spectacle. As you traverse through a dense grove of bamboo along the water, you’ll be astonished by a serene pool. The water’s surface is calm as a mirror, reflecting an unusual blue radiance. This shade of blue is not the typical sky blue or sapphire blue; it resembles the deep, enchanting blue of the sea, imbued with the beauty and profundity reminiscent of the ocean. Tiexi captivates visitors with its picturesque scenery, making it a must-visit destination for those seeking the natural wonders of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau.
