Zhengzhou Museum (Wenhan Street) (郑州博物馆文翰街馆) serves as a beacon for promoting the culture of the Central Plains, particularly the heritage of the Yellow Emperor. The museum’s architectural inspiration is drawn from the symbolic crown associated with the Yellow Emperor . Moreover, the central structure of the museum resembles a treasure basin, symbolizing abundance and prosperity. Its graceful curves exude a sense of fullness and roundness, symbolizing the glorious history of Chinese civilization.

Spanning two underground levels and three primary above-ground floors with some areas extending to five floors, Zhengzhou Museum (Wenhan Street) houses various functional zones including academic lecture halls, intangible cultural heritage exhibition areas, a 4D cinema, and interactive visitor experience spaces.

Location and Transportation

Zhengzhou Museum is situated at No. 9 Wenhan Street, Zhongyuan District, Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, China. It is close to the West Fourth Ring Road, near the Zhengzhou Botanical Garden. To get there, you can choose one of the following ways:

Bus: Take bus S113 or Y60, get off at Danshui Avenue Huizhi Road Stop (丹水大道汇智路站), and walk about 200 meters to the south to reach the museum.

Metro: The closest metro station to Zhengzhou Museum (Wenhan Street) is Olympic Center (奥体中心) on line 6 and line 14. After getting out of the station from Exit F, walk about 300 meters to the east to reach the museum.

The museum’s collection comprises 52,468 cultural relics, among which 79 are classified as first-grade cultural relics and 238 as second-grade cultural relics. Among the prized possessions are renowned artifacts such as the Qing glaze ceramic zun, a bronze square tripod from the early Shang Dynasty, a bronze chime bell from the Spring and Autumn Period, as well as various ritual vessels like the Nine Cauldrons, Eight Gui, Nine Ge, and Two Pots.

With 21 exhibition halls, the museum plans and hosts around 20 different types of exhibitions categorized into permanent, thematic, and temporary displays. The permanent exhibitions, namely “The Founding Dynasty” and “In the Center of Heaven and Earth” offer a panoramic display of Zhengzhou’s historical development from the Paleolithic era to modern times.
