Ten-Mile Gallery, Yangshuo – Stunning Scenery and Uniquely Shaped Mountains

Ten Mile Gallery Yangshuo

The Ten-Mile Gallery in Yangshuo (阳朔十里画廊) is renowned for its stunning scenery and uniquely shaped mountains that inspire endless imagination. During early spring, it is one of the best places to view vibrant rapeseed flowers. When former U.S. President Jimmy Carter visited Yangshuo, he learned from his security team that the many interesting small sights along the Ten-Mile Gallery would be missed if seen from a car. Carter then requested a change in the itinerary, opting for a leisurely bicycle ride through the gallery.

In response, the local government constructed a nearly 10-mile-long bicycle path in 2000, complete with viewing platforms and rest pavilions for visitors to fully enjoy the picturesque landscape. This path is fondly referred to by locals as the Carter Scenic Route. For those with more time, a combination of cycling through the Ten-Mile Gallery and drifting along the Yulong River is recommended. You can float down to Gongnong Bridge and then bike back, allowing for a truly immersive experience in the natural beauty of Yangshuo.

Among the numerous picturesque mountains in Guilin, this is the only one that resembles a marine animal.

Flaming Mountain To the west of the Ten-Mile Gallery, near the village of Baishandi, a towering peak rises with steep and smooth mountain walls. In the middle of the mountain wall, a suspended rock formation can be seen, with a cliff face stretching several dozen meters that is stained in hues of red and yellow, resembling blazing flames. Upon closer inspection, the contours on the cliff reveal a faint image of a monkey dancing amidst the flames, appearing as though it is being scorched by the fire.

At the base of the mountain, there is a cave with a large stalactite attached to the rock wall. From the roadside, this peculiar rock formation can be seen as two different animals: from the outside looking in, it resembles a white horse bowing its head to enter the cave; from the inside looking out, it looks like an elephant strolling out of the rock.

Dragon Horn Mountain In front of Longyanmen Village on the eastern side of the Ten-Mile Gallery, two peaks rise sharply from the green forest, standing side by side and piercing the sky.
