Hulunbuir Travel Guide
Hulunbuir is located at the northernmost point of Inner Mongolia, close to Mohe, the northernmost town in China. To the west, it borders Russia and Mongolia. The majority of its natural ecosystems, including forests, grasslands, and lakes, remain untouched by human industrial civilization, preserving an ancient and pristine natural landscape, along with unique cross-border customs from both China and Russia, and China and Mongolia.
Often referred to as the “Great Grassland,” Hulunbuir is not only rich in grassland tourism resources but also home to the vast Xing’anling Forest Area. The scenic beauty of the Erguna and Moerdaoga forest regions during the autumn is well worth a special visit. Additionally, Hulunbuir boasts the only domestic reindeer breeding park, the Oroqen Reindeer Park, where reindeer are still herded.
In the southern grassland areas, tourism development is well-established, offering activities such as horseback riding, archery, and staying in traditional Mongolian yurts, allowing visitors to experience the free-spirited lifestyle of the Mongolian people. Of course, the region is also known for its mouthwatering grassland cuisine, with fresh beef and lamb that will surely satisfy any visitor.
