Hefei Travel Guide
Hefei, located in the central part of Anhui Province, is the provincial capital of Anhui. The city gets its name from the confluence of the Fei and Shi rivers. With a history spanning over 2,000 years, Hefei is known as a site rich in historical significance, famously recognized as the “Land of the Three Kingdoms” and the “Hometown of Bao Zheng,” a famous ancient official known for his fairness. During the Qin Dynasty, Hefei was established as a county, and from the Sui to the Ming and Qing dynasties, it was the administrative center of the Lu Prefecture, often referred to as “Luzhou” or “Luyang.”
The best time to visit Hefei is during the spring and autumn seasons. In spring, places like Xiaoyaojin Park and Niujiao Daxi scenic area are adorned with blooming flowers, attracting visitors to enjoy the vibrant scenery, take photos, and appreciate nature. In the calm and clear autumn, the city’s suburban areas, such as Binhu National Forest Park and Dashu Mountain Forest Park, offer great opportunities for hiking and panoramic views.
