Day 1: Maijishan Grottoes

Start your journey at the Maijishan Scenic Area, where the diverse attractions spread across a wide region warrant a full day of exploration. In the morning, take a bus or taxi to Maijishan, home to four major attractions: Maijishan Grottoes, Xianren Cliff, Shimen, and Quxi, along with the historic Jieting Ancient Town. This area is perfect for admiring peaks, exploring caves, and enjoying the natural scenery. The highlight of your visit will undoubtedly be the Maijishan Grottoes, renowned for their rich diversity and striking Buddhist statues and murals that leave a lasting impression.

Dining: The restaurants within the Maijishan Scenic Area are not known for their value, so it is advisable to bring your own meals. In the evening, return to the city for dinner, where you can find a variety of restaurants. Be sure to try local specialties such as “Guagua” and “Niangpi,” which are definitely worth tasting.

Accommodation: Near Maijishan, there are several family-run inns available, but you can also return to the city to choose from a range of economical hotels and star-rated accommodations.


Day 2: Fuxi Temple > Yuquan Scenic Area > Dadiwan Ruins

In the morning, head to Fuxi Temple via bus or taxi. This temple boasts the most well-preserved Ming Dynasty architectural complex commemorating the ancient figure Fuxi in China. Here, you can admire the statue of Fuxi and the beautiful architecture of the Ming era. After your visit, either walk or take bus route 24 to Yuquan Temple, where you can explore attractions such as the Laojun Hall, Wenshu Hall, Wenchang Palace, Yuhuang Pavilion, Immortal Cave, and Stele Pavilion.

Afterward, make your way to the bus station to catch a bus to Qin’an County, where you can visit the Dadiwan Ruins. This significant Neolithic site offers a fascinating glimpse into history and culture.

Dining: Since Yuquan Temple is located in the city center, you’ll have no trouble finding places to eat. Options range from home-style dishes to Western cuisine and specialty restaurants. Enjoy dinner in the city after visiting the Dadiwan Ruins.

Accommodation: Upon returning from Qin’an County, various hotels and inns are available in the city. Choose according to your needs and preferences.


Day 3: Water Curtain Cave Grottoes > Qianfodong Grottoes > Lashao Temple Grottoes > Wushan Hot Springs

The three attractions for today are located in Wushan County, Tianshui. Begin by taking a bus from the bus station to Wushan, and then get a taxi to the Water Curtain Cave Scenic Area. After exploring this site, you can continue on to visit the Qianfodong and Lashao Temple grottoes. This region offers stunning natural landscapes along with artistic masterpieces such as murals, sculptures, and Buddhist statues for you to appreciate.

After your sightseeing, take a taxi to Wushan Hot Springs for some relaxation, healing, and rejuvenation of the mind and body.

Dining: It’s advisable to bring your own meals while exploring the Wushan Grottoes. In the evening, you can enjoy home-cooked dishes near the hot springs or return to the city for dining.

Accommodation: Wushan Hot Springs has several inns for you to choose from, or you can opt to return to the city for your accommodation.
