Dai Minority Park, officially known as Xishuangbanna Dai Minority Park (西双版纳傣族园), is a premier cultural and ecological tourism destination in Xishuangbanna, China. The main scenic area consists of five well-preserved natural Dai villages: Manjiang (Bamboo Knitting Village), Manchunman (Garden Village), Manzha (Chef Village), Mangga (Market Village), and Manting (Royal Garden Village). These villages collectively house 326 households and a population of 1,536 people.
The park is regarded as the essence of Xishuangbanna, offering a concentrated display of the Dai people’s history, culture, religion, sports, architecture, customs, clothing, cuisine, and daily life. Visitors can immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage of the Dai community while enjoying the park’s unique ecological beauty.
The distinctive and intricately designed bamboo houses and ancient temples are nestled amidst lush greenery, exuding a sense of natural simplicity and tranquility. Surrounding the bamboo houses are tropical fruit trees such as bananas, mangoes, lychees, egg fruits, and papayas, alongside towering coconut trees, betel palm trees, and fan palm trees, enhancing the picturesque setting of the Dai villages.
From a high vantage point, the five villages in the park resemble a giant, beautiful green peacock tail, with the villages and bamboo houses hidden beneath the dense foliage. The only clear views are of the Lancang River to the right and the Longde Lake to the left. To fully appreciate the park’s true beauty, visitors must explore on foot.
