Yinziyan Karst Cave (银子岩), also known as Silver Cave, is a remarkable example of Karst topography. Stretching through twelve mountain peaks, this cave features a multi-layered structure, showcasing a stunning array of stalactites and stalagmites that have developed over different geological periods. The formations are crystal clear and flawlessly white, resembling a cascade of silver moonlight, which is how the cave got its name.
As the largest cave in Guilin, Silver Cave has been developed for tourism with a 2,000-meter pathway. The cave is divided into three main sections: the Lower Cave, the Grand Hall, and the Upper Cave, each featuring 28 spectacular scenic spots.

Location and Transportation
Silver Cave, or Yinziyan Karst Cave, is situated in the Maling Town area of Lipu City, Guilin, Guangxi. The cave is located on the east side of the Liguang Highway, adjacent to National Road 321. It is approximately 85 kilometers from the center of Guilin and about 3 kilometers from the boundary of Yangshuo County. To get there, you can choose one of the following ways:
From Guilin to Silver Cave: You can take a regular medium or large bus from Guilin Bus Station. Buses operate from 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM. The fare is around 15 RMB. The journey takes approximately 2 hours.
From Yangshuo to Silver Cave: At the Shima Roundabout in Yangshuo (in the direction of the Ten-Mile Gallery), you can catch a regular medium or large bus heading to Lipu. The fare is about 10 RMB.
Direct Shuttle Bus from Yangshuo: There are dedicated shuttle buses from Yangshuo to Silver Cave running daily from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Key Highlights
Snow Mountain Waterfall: This awe-inspiring feature resembles a silver waterfall cascading down a stone cliff. The sparkling, snow-white appearance of the formations creates a breathtaking visual effect, reminiscent of countless streams flowing from a high cliff, thus earning its name.
Musical Stone Screen: The Musical Stone Screen is a collection of stone curtains and slabs of varying thicknesses and depths. It is considered the most complete set of stone screens in Guangxi. When lightly tapped, the stones produce ethereal, melodious sounds, hence the name “Musical Stone Screen.” The acoustics of the cave create a magical ambiance, enhancing the overall experience.
Fairyland Pool: Known for its mirror-like reflections, this area features perfectly symmetrical stalactites and their reflections in the water. The illusion of depth and symmetry makes it one of the most photographed spots in the cave.
Three Treasures of Silver Cave
Buddha’s Sermon: This natural formation resembles the Buddha sitting cross-legged in a meditation hall, preaching to an assembly of devoted followers. The serene and solemn appearance of this formation adds a spiritual touch to the cave’s atmosphere.
Primordial Pearl Umbrella: According to legend, this magical umbrella can summon rain, control winds, and ward off evil spirits. It is now a treasured relic of the cave, with its unique shape—large in the center and tapering at the ends – posing a modern geological mystery.
Single Pillar Supporting the Sky: This column formation features numerous branches that twist and intertwine, combining delicate and robust elements. It stands as a testament to the intricate and magnificent artistry of nature, evoking admiration for its natural grandeur.
