Xining People’s Park (西宁人民公园), established in 1959, covers over 40 hectares and is the largest public recreational park in Xining. At its heart lies an artificial lake, surrounded by various attractions, including a flower garden, children’s play area, animal observation zone, and an art exhibition hall. The park is characterized by its lush greenery, winding paths, elegant pavilions, and the delightful sounds of birds and flowers, creating a serene atmosphere.
Entering through the beautifully decorated park entrance, visitors are greeted by flower beds that enhance the refreshing ambiance of the grassy areas. Descending the stone steps leads to a tree-lined avenue that resembles a grand green canopy formed by towering trees. Walking along this verdant path is invigorating and uplifting. At the end of the avenue, the unique “Source of the River” fountain captures attention, featuring a soaring dragon that sprays white foam, creating a flowing stream that resembles the true source of a river.
On the west side of the park, the Green Garden showcases vibrant flowers and intricate garden art, offering stunning views. The flowerbeds contain over 10,000 potted plants of more than 300 varieties, including tulips from the Netherlands, which have been lovingly cultivated by the park’s gardeners, adding vibrant colors to the landscape. The annual Tulip Flower Exhibition attracts numerous visitors, while the autumn Chrysanthemum Exhibition brings more charm to the park with its exquisite displays.
The artificial lake is divided into West Lake and East Lake by a tree-lined path. The East Lake features two charming arched bridges, reflecting the style of southern China, with weeping willows gracefully swaying by the rippling waters. The park provides a delightful escape into nature and a space for leisure and enjoyment for both locals and visitors.
