Start your journey exploring the traditional Jinuo Mountain Village and the awe-inspiring Rainforest Valley, followed by a visit to the expansive Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden. On the second day, delve into the local culture at Ganlanba and the Dai Garden, enjoy the serene Manting Park, and cap off your adventure with a visit to bustling night markets. This itinerary offers a well-rounded glimpse into the diverse and captivating aspects of Xishuangbanna.

Day 1: Jinghong > Jinuo Mountain Village > Xishuangbanna Rainforest Valley > Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden

Begin your journey from Jinghong, heading to Jinuo Mountain Village, which takes approximately half an hour. Spend 2-3 hours exploring the village before moving on to Rainforest Valley. This area preserves the original forest environment with thrilling activities like swinging on tree vines, walking barefoot on glass piles, and navigating through challenging terrains.

Just ten minutes from Rainforest Valley is the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, which is divided into the Western, Eastern, and Green Stone Forest areas. Given the large size of the garden, it’s recommended to purchase tickets for the on-demand electric sightseeing cars. Marvel at nature’s wonders, such as dancing grass, carnivorous pitcher plants, and poisonous arrow poison trees.

Accommodation: Stay at the hotels on the “Gourd Island,” such as the newly built Anantara Resort or the Botanical Garden Hotel. Alternatively, you can stay in Menglun Town at places like the Octagon Tower Inn or return to the city center and explore the night market.

Day 2: Ganlanba > Xishuangbanna Dai Garden > Manting Park > Riverside Night Market > Starlight Night Market

In the morning, travel from the botanical garden to Ganlanba, which takes about an hour by car. Ganlanba is known for its abundant dried fruit products, available for purchase with a bit of haggling. Next, head to the Dai Garden, located 2 kilometers from Ganlanba. Enter the garden and start at the Welcome Square before visiting the Manchunman Ancient Buddha Temple. At the Dai Garden’s Water-Splashing Square, join hundreds of people in the traditional water-splashing festival – don’t forget to bring a change of clothes.

After 2-3 hours of exploring, return to Jinghong City to visit Manting Park. Here, you can explore the vine plant area, peacock garden, and Thai-style architecture. Enjoy a special performance or join a bonfire party in the evening. Finish the day by sampling local snacks at the Riverside Night Market, and if you still have energy, visit the Starlight Night Market for souvenirs and experience Xishuangbanna’s vibrant nightlife.
