Day 1: Ganden Sumtseling Monastery → Dukezong Ancient City → Guishan Park → Moonlight Square

Arrive in Shangri-La from Lijiang and begin your visit with a tour of the Ganden Sumtseling Monastery. Afterward, take time to explore Dukezong Ancient City, and then enjoy the views at Guishan Park and Moonlight Square. If you opt for a pure-play tour, you can also visit the First Bend of the Yangtze River and Tiger Leaping Gorge along the way, arriving in Shangri-La in the evening.

Transportation: The journey from Lijiang to Shangri-La is approximately 187 kilometers. Buses from Lijiang High-Speed Bus Station run six times daily at 8:20, 9:30, 10:30, 13:00, 14:30, and 15:30, with a ticket price of 63 RMB per person and a travel time of about 4 hours. Alternatively, buses from Lijiang Passenger Station depart every 40 minutes between 7:30 and 17:10, with tickets costing 61-69 RMB and a similar travel time. For a more convenient option, you can book a day or two-day tour from the many available in the ancient city. In Shangri-La County, there are six public bus lines operating from 6:00 to 18:00, with a fare of 1 RMB. Bus Line 3 can take you to Ganden Sumtseling Monastery. Taxis start at 7 RMB, with a flat rate for in-town trips, generally around 15 RMB for out-of-town rides. Guishan Park and Moonlight Square are within the ancient city and can be reached on foot.

Accommodation: Stay overnight in the Dukezong Ancient City area, where you’ll find numerous guesthouses with affordable prices and good conditions.


Day 2: Pudacuo National Park

Spend the day exploring Pudacuo National Park, renowned for its well-preserved natural environment, including mirror-like alpine lakes, lush meadows, blooming wetlands, and dense original forests.

Transportation: Two buses depart daily from Shangri-La Passenger Station to Pudacuo National Park at 8:30 and 9:30 (with additional departures during peak seasons). Return trips are at 14:00 and 15:00, with a one-way fare of 15 RMB and a journey of about 30 minutes. Ensure you confirm the return times when you disembark. Alternatively, you can hire a car for around 180 RMB per day, or take a taxi for about 80 RMB one way or 150 RMB round trip. If you prefer not to arrange transport yourself, consider booking a day tour that includes admission, sightseeing vehicles, and round-trip transportation.
