ancient longzhong scenic area xiangyang

Ancient Longzhong Scenic Area (古隆中景区), located in Xiangyang City, Hubei Province, spans a total area of 18,000 acres, with Zhuge Grass Hut as its focal point. It encompasses Longzhong Mountain, Leshan Mountain, Daqishan Mountain, Xiaoqishan Mountain, Zhuge Temple Gorge, Guangde Temple Gorge, and more. This site holds historical significance as the place where Zhuge Liang, the renowned statesman and military strategist from the Three Kingdoms period (over 1,800 years ago), secluded himself. It is here that the famous story of “Liu Bei‘s three visits to the thatched cottage” from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms took place, and the well-known “Longzhong Dialogue” originated.

Xiangyang’s Longzhong and Nanyang in Henan Province have long disputed the title of “Zhuge’s farming land.” However, for ordinary tourists, this historical contest may not hold much significance. After all, the two regions have been vying for this title for centuries, and most of the structures within the Ancient Longzhong Scenic Area have been reconstructed in recent years.
