Bianliang Xiaosongcheng (汴梁小宋城), located in Kaifeng City, Henan Province, was transformed from the original “Dongjing Art Center”. Covering an area of approximately 50,000 square meters, this transformation breathed new life into the site, creating a vibrant cultural and commercial hub. Its standout feature is the approximately 20,000 square meters dedicated to a distinctive folk food and commercial street, offering a delightful array of Kaifeng’s specialty snacks alongside flavors from across the country. Over time, it has earned accolades such as “Kaifeng locals’ hospitality hall” and “the preferred destination for out-of-town tourists”.
This five-story structure is designed with careful consideration of its diverse offerings. The western first and second floors house the folk food and beverage area, spanning an impressive 20,000 square meters. Here, visitors can explore over a hundred shops and stalls, immersing themselves in the culinary culture of Kaifeng. The selection is extensive, featuring delicacies such as the renowned Lu’s family buns with thin skin and generous fillings, the flavorful and juicy Qishi large knife-cut noodles, and the crispy and savory Xing family pan-fried dumplings, among others. For the adventurous palate, delicacies like fried scorpions, grasshoppers, centipedes, and seahorses vie for attention, creating a vibrant tapestry of flavors known as the “hundred flavors snack carnival” of Xiaosongcheng.
Meanwhile, the central first floor and western third floor comprise the specialty cultural and commercial zone, offering a curated selection of artisan crafts, artworks, and jewelry reflecting the distinctive culture of Kaifeng. With a focus on showcasing the tourism culture of Kaifeng, particularly its legacy as a capital during seven dynasties, this area is adorned with the classical architectural style of the Northern Song Dynasty. Visitors are transported back in time as they peruse the offerings, simultaneously experiencing the prosperity and grandeur of the millennium-old Song Dynasty.
The fusion of ancient charm and modern amenities is further emphasized on the eastern first, second, and third floors, as well as the western fourth and fifth floors. Here, modern bars, hot spring hotels, contemporary KTV lounges, and deluxe cinemas offer a glimpse into urban life while complementing the historical ambiance of the Song Dynasty.
