Binhu National Forest Park in Hefei (合肥滨湖国家森林公园) covers an area of 1,072 hectares, with 799 hectares of forest and 263 hectares of water. The park is home to over 280 plant species, creating a multi-layered vegetation system. The upper forest layer is dominated by poplar trees, along with dawn redwood, privet, and wetland pine. The middle layer consists mainly of secondary camphor, mulberry, and tallow trees, while the understory features palm, hibiscus, and various vines.
As China’s first national forest park developed from reforested farmland through ecological restoration, Binhu National Forest Park blends the area’s natural environment with its historical and cultural elements. Notable attractions include “Mountain Water of Luzhou,” “Spring Scenery of Jiaolao,” and “Four Waters Converge.” The park has received the “China Habitat Environment Example Award” and is recognized as a National Water Conservation Scenic Area and a National 4A-level tourist attraction.
This green oasis offers year-round attractions. In spring, you can rent a bike and ride along fragrant forest paths, enjoying the park’s colorful permeable concrete walkways. In summer, take a traditional boat ride to experience the serene beauty of “sailing on green waves, as if in a painting.” Autumn brings the blooming of reeds, adding a unique charm to the scenery. Families with children will appreciate the park’s science corridor, which educates visitors about forests, wetlands, and other natural concepts. When you’re ready for a break, the reception center offers a place to relax, enjoy tea, and embrace a slower pace of life.
