China Museum for Fujian-Taiwan Kinship, Quanzhou

China Museum For Fujian Taiwan Kinship

The China Museum for Fujian-Taiwan Kinship (中国闽台缘博物馆) is situated in Quanzhou, Fujian Province, covering an area of 154.2 acres with a main building area of 23,332 square meters. This national-level specialized museum focuses on the historical relationship between mainland China (Fujian) and Taiwan. The design embodies the “round sky and square earth” concept, incorporating traditional architectural features of Fujian and Taiwan with a harmonious red and white color scheme, reflecting the cultural and regional spirit shared across the Taiwan Strait.

The museum’s main building features four semi-curved sloping ramps leading to a scenic rooftop terrace, symbolizing the museum as a bridge and link for cross-strait exchanges. The Peace Lotus on the observation terrace signifies the perpetual blessing of peace and good fortune.

The landscape plaza of the China Museum for Fujian-Taiwan Kinship is composed of various elements, including the museum’s name tablet, a reflection pool, a musical fountain, the Nine-Dragon Pillar, and colorful lamp posts. The design predominantly uses red, a color rich in architectural significance for both Fujian and Taiwan. This is achieved using natural stone slabs and specially made red bricks, creating a striking pattern that seamlessly blends with the main structure.

The Nine-Dragon Pillar and the name tablet form a significant scene, with the “Nine Dragons Spitting Pearl” symbolizing the unity of people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, underscoring the strong and unbreakable bond. The reflection pool in the center of the plaza continuously flows outward, representing the long-standing and deep-rooted relationship between the mainland and Taiwan.
