Qingdao Christian Church (青岛基督教堂), originally known as the German Church, was first constructed in the 34th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1908) and completed in the 2nd year of the Xuantong reign (1910). In the 7th year of the Republic of China (1918), after the end of World War I, the church was taken over by the American YMCA in Qingdao. After 1949, the church was temporarily used by the affiliated hospital of Qingdao Medical College. It wasn’t until 1980 that the church was returned to the Christian community and resumed worship activities.
Renowned for its Gothic architectural style, Qingdao Christian Church features unique designs and structures that are truly breathtaking. The exterior facade of the church is crafted from white granite, with a striking red roof and green spire of the bell tower, complemented by yellow outer walls, creating a distinct sense of beauty typical of religious architecture. The main hall of the church is 18 meters high and divided into upper and lower levels. With a height of 18 meters, the church can accommodate up to a thousand people, while the tower stands at 36.47 meters tall and houses a large and two small clocks for timekeeping.
The church itself is not overly large, consisting of the bell tower and the sanctuary. Visitors can enter the sanctuary to experience the solemn atmosphere within. At the end of the sanctuary, there is a circular window with a large cross placed simply in front of it. Unlike many other churches, the organ in Qingdao Christian Church is located on the second floor near the entrance. Additionally, visitors have the opportunity to ascend the bell tower and enjoy panoramic views of the entire Qingdao city area. Inside the bell tower, there is a mechanical device for visitors to observe. The grand clock continues to operate accurately, chiming every half hour on Sundays with deep and solemn tones, exuding a sense of reverence and sacredness characteristic of religious worship.

Qingdao Christian Church is located at No. 15 Jiangsu Road, Shinan District, Qingdao City, Shandong Province, adjacent to Signal Hill Park. To get there, you can choose one of the following ways:
Bus: Take bus 214, 217, 220, 221, or 411 Loop Line and get off at Signal Hill Park Stop (信号山公园站).
Metro: The closest metro station to the park is Signal Hill (信号山) on line 4. After getting out of the station from Exit C, you will be standing right at the entrance.
