Erlang River Scenic Area (二浪河风景区), located at an altitude of 723 meters with peaks reaching up to 1,600 meters, boasts a climate similar to China’s Snow Town. From mid-October to late April, the area is blanketed in snow, with depths reaching up to 2 meters. The unique snow quality and density create stunning natural phenomena like snow drifts and frost rime that cling to branches and landscapes, mesmerizing visitors with scenes that rival those in Snow Town and Yabuli Scenic Area. Erlang River is a hidden gem on the Yabuli-Snow Town tourist route.
This scenic area is a natural oxygen bar, with fresh air rich in negative ions that makes strolling through the forest especially refreshing. Visitors can also enjoy the experience of foraging for wild mountain vegetables. The area features “Two Rivers,” “Eight Brooks,” and “Sixteen Springs” with clear waters that flow year-round. The springs emerge fresh and cool, weaving between trees and over stones, creating a tranquil atmosphere.
In autumn, visitors can climb the wind turbine area of Forest Section 29, known as the “Hump,” to view the vivid fall colors of “Five-Color Mountain,” which resembles a grand oil painting, making it a paradise for art and photography enthusiasts. Erlang River Scenic Area has 10 family-run inns that can host around 200 guests. Visitors can relax on cozy heated beds, enjoy hearty local dishes like stewed chicken with mushrooms, pork with vermicelli, local vegetable dishes, and wild mountain mushrooms, and indulge in corn cakes, sticky rice buns, and forest specialties like pine nuts. As they savor these mountain delicacies, they can listen to local legends and experience the simple, rustic lifestyle of the area, embracing a serene “back-to-nature” retreat.
