how to get to the temple of heaven from forbidden city

The Temple of Heaven is a religious complex located in southeastern Beijing, China. It is situated in the Chongwen district, just a few kilometers south of Tiananmen Square. The exact address of the Temple of Heaven is No. 4, Tiantan E Rd, Dongcheng District, Beijing, China.

The Forbidden City, on the other hand, is located in the center of Beijing, just north of Tiananmen Square. It is approximately 6.5 kilometers (4.04 miles) north of the Temple of Heaven.

To get to the Temple of Heaven from the Forbidden City, there are several transportation options available. Since most visitors finish their tour in the Forbidden City at the north gate, we take it as the starting point.

Bus+Subway: Take bus 101, 58, or 109 at the north gate of the Forbidden City, transfer to subway line 5 at Dongsi Stop (东四), and then get off at Tiantan Dongmen Station (the East Gate of the Temple of Heaven 天坛东门). The whole journey takes about 40 minutes, and the fare is 5 RMB.

Of course, you can also cover the first part of the journey by foot. It measures 1.8 kilometers (1.11 miles) and takes about half an hour.

Bus: Take bus 128 at the north gate of the Forbidden City, get off at Fahuasi Stop (Fahua Temple 法华寺), and then walk about 100 meters to the south to reach the east gate of the Temple of Heaven. This option takes about 45 minutes and costs 2 RMB.

Taxi: You can also take a taxi from the Forbidden City to the Temple of Heaven, which should take around 25 minutes and cost approximately 25-30 RMB (4-5 USD), depending on the traffic condition. You can show the following text to the driver: “请带我去天坛公园东门”.
