Gubei Water Town is a popular tourist destination located in Miyun District, about 120 kilometers northeast of Beijing. While it may seem like a long journey, there are several convenient ways to get to Gubei Water Town from Beijing.
By Coach: You can take the express coach from Dongzhimen Transportation Hub (东直门客运站), which can be easily accessed by bus or subway, directly to Gubei Water Town. The coach departs at 9.00 and 13.00 and returns at 12.00 and 17.00. The journey will take about 2.5 hours and cost 48 RMB. But it only accepts cash. So please exchange some beforehand.
By Train: There are two trains, S501 and S503, departing from Beijing North Railway Station to Gubeikou Station. The S501 departs at 6.58 am and arrives at 9.23 am, while the S503 departs at 14.20 and arrives at 16.50. Both cost 12 RMB and take about 2.5 hours. After getting off the train, you can easily find the shuttle bus to the water town.
By Bus: Although there are buses leading to Gubei Water Town, this option involves a lot of transfer and takes more than 4 hours. So, we highly recommend you against this option.
Take a Taxi: You can always take a taxi to get to Gubei Water Town. According to the latest policy, the former option will cost about 500 RMB if you start from the Forbidden City, which is a little too expensive. Or you can use the private transfer service, which is more convenient than the taxi.
By Tour: Many travel agencies organize one-day or two-day tours to Gubei Water Town from Beijing. They will take care of the transportation, entrance ticket, and guide. Just ask the receptionist of your hotel, he or she will give relevant information.
