The history of Keqiao Ancient Town dates back over 2000 years to the Spring and Autumn Period, serving as a pivotal node along the ancient canal in eastern Zhejiang. Its name is derived from the Ke River flowing through the town. Evidence of human activity dating back to the Neolithic Age was unearthed in Dushan Village in the 1970s, further attesting to the town’s ancient roots. Originally known as Dili, it was named after the intersection with the Guanshuzhi River of the ancient canal in eastern Zhejiang. During the Eastern Han Dynasty, the renowned “Keting Flute” was invented here, earning Keqiao the alias “Dili.”
The architectural style of Keqiao Ancient Town is distinct, showcasing a blend of traditional wooden structures and stone buildings such as bridges and pavilions, beautifully embodying the architectural artistry of the Jiangnan region. Bus: Take bus 5, 809A, 809, 816A, 822, 831A, 831, or 868, and get off at Keqiao Ancient Town South Stop (柯桥古镇南站).
Metro: The closest metro station to Keqiao Ancient Town is China Qingfang City (中国轻纺城). After getting out of the station from Exit C, walk about 1.7 kilometers to the southwest to reach the attraction.
