Kunming World Horticultural Expo Garden

The Kunming World Horticultural Expo Garden (昆明世界园艺博览园), abbreviated as Expo Garden, is situated in the Jin Dian scenic area in the northeastern outskirts of Kunming City, approximately 4 kilometers away from the city center. This site served as the venue for the 1999 Kunming World Horticultural Exposition and remains the only fully preserved exposition site in the world.

Covering an area of approximately 218 hectares, the Expo Garden boasts a remarkable vegetation coverage rate of 76.7%, with 120 hectares comprising lush shrubs and gentle slopes, and water surfaces occupying 10% to 15% of the total area. Nestled against the hills, the garden showcases the distinctive features of various provinces, regions, and cities across China, as well as the horticultural achievements and architectural styles of 95 countries, embodying the theme of “harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature.”

Location and Transportation

The Kunming World Horticultural Expo Garden is located at 439 Bailong Road, Panlong District, Kunming City, Yunnan Province, approximately 4 kilometers from the city center. To get there, you can choose one of the following ways:

Bus: Take bus 47, 69, 71, 204, 228, 235, A12, A1, C101, C136, or K18 and get off at Shiboyuan Stop (世博园站).

Metro: The closest metro station to Kunming Expo Garden is Shiboyuan (世博园站) on line 5. After getting out of the station from Exit A1, you will be standing at the south entrance of the garden.
