Longzhu Pavilion (龙珠阁), located on the summit of Zhushan Mountain in Jingdezhen, has a rich historical legacy. Originally built during the Tang Dynasty and known as Ju Zhu Pavilion, it was renovated during the Song Dynasty and renamed Zhongli Pavilion. The Ming Dynasty saw it rebuilt as Chaotian Pavilion, and later known as Binglitang during the Chenghua period. The Wanli era renamed it Huancui Pavilion, and the Qing Emperor Yongzheng later called it Wenchang Pavilion. In 1925, it was reconstructed and named Longzhu Pavilion.
This pavilion is an impressive six-story structure designed in the Ming Dynasty style with a total height of 34.5 meters and a floor area of 1650 square meters. It features a traditional multi-eaved palace architectural style. Beneath the pavilion are numerous valuable cultural relics. Since the Ming Dynasty, Longzhu Pavilion has served as a representative building of the imperial porcelain factories and is a significant site of Ming and Qing imperial kiln remains. Today, it has become the emblem of Jingdezhen.
The pavilion is three stories high and surrounded by red walls and yellow tiles, giving it a majestic appearance. Its grand entrance and interior columns are adorned with vermilion lacquer, creating a stunning visual effect. Inside, the front and rear halls feature a variety of artifacts including white porcelain Avalokiteshvara statues, incense burners, candlesticks, and golden-painted deities made of summer cloth. The second floor showcases statues of Confucius, Shakyamuni Buddha, and Laozi.
Longzhu Pavilion currently serves as the Jingdezhen Imperial Kiln Museum. It houses exhibits related to the original imperial kilns and restored imperial kiln ceramics by the Ancient Ceramic Research Institute. The museum displays thousands of items, including blue-and-white porcelain, large Ming Dynasty dragon jars, and Ming Dynasty imperial porcelain treasures unearthed from Zhushan.
