Meifeng Island (梅峰岛), situated in the scenic Qiaodao Lake area, is an idyllic destination for those seeking panoramic views and tranquility. The island is renowned for its vantage points that offer breathtaking perspectives of the surrounding landscape.
At the summit of Meifeng Island, there are two observation decks – the East Observation Deck and the West Observation Deck. The prime attraction lies in the West Observation Deck, where the islands below form a picturesque mosaic. Gazing over Qiandao Lake, the myriad islands resemble plum blossoms floating on the water’s surface. The smaller islands scattered like stars in the galaxy, while larger ones create intricate bays, outlining white sandy arcs between the green islands and waters.
The name “Meifeng” has two possible origins. One interpretation suggests that the island, composed of five hills, resembles a plum blossom. Another theory proposes that the mountain was covered with wild plum blossoms in the past, giving rise to the name.

Location and Transportation
Meifeng Island is situated within the Qiandao Lake scenic area, located in the province of Zhejiang, China, and under the jurisdiction of Hangzhou. To get there, you can choose one of the following ways:
- By Qiandao Lake Tourist Boat (Morning Route in the Central Lake Area):
- Board the morning route of the Qiandao Lake Tourist Boat from the Central Lake Area, which includes stops at Meifeng Island, Yule Island, and Longshan Island.
- Ticket sales are available from 8:00 to 9:00 for the first departure and from 9:30 to 10:30 for the second departure.
- The boat departs at 9:15 for the first round and at 10:45 for the second round.
- Ticket cost is 65 yuan per person.
- By Chartering a Yacht:
- Opt for a yacht charter for a more personalized experience.

Highlights of Meifeng Islands
Currently, Meifeng Island boasts over five thousand artificially planted plum trees, including red, green, white, and wax plum varieties. During the blooming season, the island transforms into a spectacular plum blossom viewing spot, enhancing the allure of Qiandao Lake.
On the western side of Meifeng Mountain’s observation deck, nestled within a dense forest, stands a traditional-style building – the Meifeng Teahouse. The interior is adorned with antique furnishings and comprises a tea restaurant, a tea art performance hall, and a tea exhibition and sales hall. Visitors can savor the locally produced high-mountain teas, such as Qian Dao Silver Needle and Jiu Keng Mao Jian, known for their authentic flavors and delightful aromas.
In 2002, the Meifeng Scenic Area Management invested in constructing Zhejiang’s first “dry grass slide” within the “Yunxiang Garden.” This thrilling attraction allows visitors to ride sleds down steep slopes, providing an exhilarating experience. The endpoint of the slide is Meifeng’s dining service center, capable of accommodating over two hundred people simultaneously.
