Ningbo Ocean World (宁波海洋世界), opened on November 16, 2006, stands as a premier marine aquarium dedicated to showcasing oceanic life and promoting marine knowledge. Comprising two main sections, the venue features an aquarium and a marine theater, offering visitors an immersive experience into the wonders of the sea.
Within the aquarium, visitors can explore three distinct cultural background exhibition areas, a tropical rainforest zone, and a rare fish exhibition area. Notably, it boasts three types of underwater tunnels, including a tiered underwater tunnel, a 180° underwater tunnel, and a 270° underwater tunnel, providing an unparalleled view of marine life. Moreover, visitors can marvel at captivating performances in the newly added mermaid performance area, witness adorable seals in action, and behold the enchanting Seven Color Jellyfish Palace. In February 2019, Ningbo Ocean World welcomed the addition of the Chinese sturgeon, a nationally protected species and known as the “panda of the water,” further enhancing its diverse collection of marine creatures.
The marine theater presents an array of captivating marine animals, including dolphins, belugas, sea lions, seals, Asian small-clawed otters, and Arctic wolves. Featuring state-of-the-art holographic projection technology, the theater hosts informative lectures and presentations aimed at educating visitors about marine life and conservation efforts. With a seating capacity of up to 3,000 spectators, the theater boasts a large LED screen spanning over 100 square meters and a water-stage platform, where marine stars such as belugas, dolphins, walruses, sea lions, and a dedicated performance team mesmerize audiences with their extraordinary talents.
