Historical Root
Rongxiang is divided into three natural villages: Upper Rong, Middle Rong, and Lower Rong. During the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republican period, the rapid rise of a group of national industrial and commercial figures represented by the Rong family, with Rong Zongjing (荣宗敬) and Rong Desheng (荣德生) at the forefront, transformed Rongxiang into a thriving town, ushering in an unprecedented era of prosperity. This period witnessed the construction of numerous buildings that bear the imprints of their times and exude local charm.
Today, Rongxiang retains a 380-meter-long old street with a distinctive modern appearance and 157 modern-era buildings that are both a testament to the past and a reflection of the area’s unique character.
