Yantai Travel Guide
Yantai, located in the eastern part of the Shandong Peninsula, is renowned as the “Fairyland of Mountains and Seas” and the “Wine City.” Nestled between mountains and the sea, Yantai is often described as a paradise on earth. The city’s natural beauty is enhanced by the ever-changing sea, the mysterious mirages, the legendary tales of the Eight Immortals crossing the sea, the story of Xu Fu’s eastern voyage, and the myth of Emperor Qin shooting a shark, all adding a layer of mystique to its landscapes. The rich blend of Eastern and Western cultural heritage from the modern port-opening era has created a unique coastal charm, making Yantai a famous destination for ecological tourism, sightseeing, and leisure.
In spring, Yantai offers opportunities for mountain hikes and enjoying pear blossoms as white as snow, immersing visitors in the vibrant spring atmosphere. Summer in Yantai is perfect for enjoying the vast, blue sea, strolling on soft sandy beaches, and savoring fresh seafood. If you’re lucky, you might even witness the spectacular phenomenon of a mirage during the transition from summer to autumn. Autumn and winter also offer delightful experiences in Yantai, such as fruit and vegetable picking, tasting fine wines, enjoying hot springs amidst snow, and admiring festive lantern displays, capturing the beauty of the winter season.
The sea breeze in Yantai during winter is quite harsh and made me allergic. I suggest visiting when the weather is warmer! It’s still a very nice city with delicious food and friendly people.
Last night in Yantai, there was heavy snow, which made many people feel hesitant about going out. I felt like I had the entire Yangma Island all to myself. Compared to the hustle and bustle of summer, the tranquility of winter is much more relaxing.
When we arrived in Yantai yesterday afternoon, it was lightly snowing. Although the snow stopped later, the sun didn’t come out, and we visited Fisherman’s Wharf. The entire seaside looked gray, the sea breeze was very strong, and it was quite cold; it felt just average. However, today the weather was clear and felt much warmer. We went to First Bathing Beach at noon to feed the seagulls, and in the afternoon, we picked up seashells at the Pink Beach… Read more »
Yantai’s sea is quite nice. I took a trip to Yantai during my vacation, and it was fulfilling. I ended the day at a snack street, and I wish I had two stomachs!
The seaside today could leave you feeling a bit silly with the wind blowing so strongly . The Yantai Slightly Tipsy Art Festival was not worth attending; it wasn’t interesting at all, and to top it off, it rained on us. Who would have thought that just yesterday we could wear short sleeves, and today it’s cold enough to need a down jacket?
I personally feel that the planning of Yangma Island is not as good as West Island in Hainan. The electric carts and bicycles mix on the same road, making it quite chaotic. There are cars parked all along the roadside, and if you’re driving yourself, finding a parking spot can be quite a hassle.
