Tianlai Butterfly Spring Scenic Area (蝴蝶泉景区), located in Yangshuo, covers 36,000 square meters and features a range of attractions including Butterfly Cave, Butterfly Mountain Waterfall, Butterfly Bridge, Butterfly Mountain, Butterfly Garden, and Butterfly Hall. Among these, the Butterfly Garden is the largest butterfly observation park in China, spanning 3,800 square meters and home to thousands of butterflies of various species, creating a harmonious and natural environment for visitors.
The scenic area offers more than just butterfly viewing. Visitors can enjoy picturesque rural landscapes of Yangshuo, local cultural performances, and unique demonstrations of bee-keeping techniques. Additionally, guests can sample wild honey for free.
Butterfly Spring is renowned for its beautiful blend of mountains, water, stone, and caves, featuring a suspended bridge, springs, and waterfalls. The area also showcases authentic Dong and Miao ethnic culture. Visitors can interact with descendants of the famous 101 Dong Village chieftain and Miao king, join local Dong and Miao people in traditional gatherings, and experience the role of a village leader or Miao king. One of the highlights is listening to the enchanting Dong Grand Song, a world intangible cultural heritage recognized in October 2009.
The best views of Yangshuo’s rural scenery are from Butterfly Mountain. From this vantage point, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the area’s majestic peaks, clear waters, and picturesque farmland. Notable formations include the unique Sheep Horn Mountain (after which Yangshuo is named), Penholder Peak, Lion Mountain, Glove Mountain, Thumb Mountain, and Peacock Mountain. Location and Transportation
Butterfly Spring Scenic Area is located in Yangshuo, Guilin, along the “Ten-Mile Gallery” scenic route near Moon Hill. It is situated alongside National Highway 321, just 3 kilometers from the county town, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
To get there, you can either take a taxi or rent a bicycle. Alternatively, you can catch a minibus from Yangshuo Bus Station to Gaotian and inform the driver that you wish to go to Butterfly Spring.
