Lijiang Qingxi Reservoir (丽江清溪水库) is nestled approximately 1.5 kilometers away from the administrative center of the ancient city district. This reservoir harnesses the underground spring water near Qingxi Village, shaping its form through the construction of embankments on three sides: south, west, and north. It comprises two sections: Qingxi First Reservoir and Qingxi Second Reservoir, connected by bridge culverts.
The dam of Qingxi Reservoir is constructed of earth and stone, spanning 1631 meters in length and standing 9 meters tall, with a total storage capacity of 1.05 million cubic meters. Classified as a small-scale reservoir, the first section was built in 1958, followed by the construction of the second section in 1979. Besides providing essential water sources for agricultural irrigation in Lijiang, it also ensures stable water supplies for industrial production and domestic use in rural areas.
Moreover, Qingxi Reservoir boasts unique scenic beauty, attracting locals and tourists alike for leisure and relaxation throughout the seasons. Whether basking in the winter sunshine or seeking refuge from the summer heat, it serves as an ideal destination. During evenings, visitors can enjoy stargazing and moon watching with friends, adding a special charm to the experience. However, it’s crucial to uphold environmental conservation when visiting the reservoir, as it serves as one of Lijiang’s drinking water sources, and swimming is strictly prohibited.
