Jinguo Museum (晋国博物馆, Jin State Museum), located in Quwo County, Shanxi Province, is the first large-scale site museum in Shanxi Province, built upon the “Qu Village-Tianma Site.” It is also the first museum in China dedicated to Jin culture. Covering a total area of 5.9 hectares with a building area of 13,393 square meters and an exhibition area of 8,985 square meters, the museum officially opened to the public on October 1, 2014. The museum focuses on Jin culture and features three main exhibitions: the History and Culture of the Jin State, the Excavation History of the “Qu Village-Tianma Site,” and the Jin Hou Cemetery Site. The museum houses a collection of 3,120 artifacts, including 109 sets of precious relics.

Location and Transportation
The Jinguo Museum is located in Qucun Town, Quwo County, Linfen City, Shanxi Province. You can reach it by taking a train or high-speed rail to Houma Station in Linfen City. From there, transfer to an intercity bus heading to Quwo County. Local buses run directly to the Jin State Museum from Quwo County town.

Jin State History and Culture Exhibition
The Jin State History and Culture Exhibition Hall features numerous artifacts unearthed from the Jin Hou Cemetery, including bronze wares, jade artifacts, and pottery. This exhibition connects these relics through a narrative approach, dividing the 600-year history of the Jin State into five sections. It highlights significant events that influenced the course of Chinese history, such as the “Tongye Feng Tang,” “Quwo Dai Yi,” “Wengong’s Dominance,” “Relocation to Xintian,” and “The Tripartite Division of Jin.”
Archaeological Excavation History Exhibition
The Qu Village-Tianma Site Archaeological Excavation History Exhibition Hall uses a cultural excavation grid to showcase the geographical location of the site and the timeline of surveys and excavations over the years. This method is commonly employed in archaeology, where the site is divided into multiple square grids, typically measuring 5×5 meters or 1×1 meter. The spaces between the grids serve as observation beams for analyzing the stratigraphy of the site after excavation.
Jin Hou Cemetery Site Exhibition
The Jin Hou Cemetery Site Exhibition Hall displays four representative tombs and three accompanying horse-and-chariot pits. Under the premise of preserving the original state of the site, it has been scientifically restored and reinforced. The exhibition presents the layout of coffins and burial items as they were found during excavation, using various display methods to create unique viewing experiences for each tomb. This setup offers visitors a panoramic view of the burial practices of noble families during the Zhou Dynasty.
