Eji Banner Museum

Established on May 18, 2012, the Eji Banner Museum (额济纳旗博物馆) is a state-owned cultural institution covering an area of 11,000 square meters. The museum houses a collection of 5,176 items, including 50 precious artifacts, making it a significant repository of cultural heritage in the region. It features six permanent exhibitions – Mystical Wonders, Gurin Spring and Autumn, Flowing Black Water, Ethnic Customs, Dawn of the Desert, and Co-construction of Dual Support – as well as one temporary exhibition hall. Through physical displays, scene simulations, and multimedia technology, the museum effectively chronicles and presents the natural environment and socio-cultural history of the Eji Banner area.

The Eji Banner Museum is located in Dalahu Town, Eji Banner, Alashan League, Inner Mongolia, China, near Ejin Desert Poplar Forest. Specifically, it can be found on Juyuan Street. Because of the pool public transport, the most convenient way to get to the museum is self-drive.

Mystical Wonders Exhibition Hall: This hall showcases the incredible geological landscapes and biodiversity of the 114,600 square kilometers of Eji Banner, aiming to enhance public awareness of nature conservation and appreciation.

Gurin Spring and Autumn Exhibition Hall: Focused on the history of the Eji Banner area from the Neolithic period to the Northern and Southern Dynasties, this exhibition emphasizes the long-standing human presence in the region and its role as a connection point between Eastern and Western stone tool cultures.

Flowing Black Water Exhibition Hall: This hall explores the political, military, economic, and ethnic relations in the Eji Banner region during the Sui, Tang, Western Xia, and Yuan dynasties. It highlights the significance of Heishui City along the Northern Silk Road, illustrating its rise and decline through social, economic, and cultural changes.

Ethnic Customs Exhibition Hall: This exhibition commemorates the return of the Torghut Mongols to their homeland in 1698, presenting their history and customs. It celebrates the heroism of the Torghut people in their journey home, promoting love for the nation and ethnic unity.

Dawn of the Desert Exhibition Hall: This hall details the modern history of Eji Banner’s resistance against Japanese imperialism and the oppression of Kuomintang warlords, highlighting the contributions of communists like Su Jianxiao, Zhou Renshan, and Fan Changjiang in their efforts for national liberation and unity.

Co-construction of Dual Support Exhibition Hall: This section showcases the development of the Dongfeng Aerospace City and the Air Force’s first experimental training base in Eji Banner. It underscores the efforts of various ethnic groups in supporting national defense and aerospace endeavors, detailing how the local population prioritized the collective good over individual interests.
