Golden Beach, Qingdao – Opening Hours, Location, and Highlihgts

golden beach in Qingdao

Located on the southern edge of Qingdao, facing the Yellow Sea, Qingdao Golden Beach (青岛金沙滩) stretches in a crescent shape from east to west, spanning over 3500 meters in length and 300 meters in width. Known for its crystal-clear waters, fine golden sand, and picturesque scenery, Golden Beach has earned its illustrious reputation as one of China’s finest seaside resorts, often hailed as the “Number One Beach in Asia.” One of the notable features of Golden Beach is the “Invisible Stone Frog,” a rock formation submerged in the sea. With its head facing east and tail to the west, the stone frog appears and disappears with the ebb and flow of the tide, adding an element of mystery to the beach.

Situated in the Huangdao District on the west coast of Jiaozhou Bay, Golden Beach lies opposite the island of Tuandao, just 2.26 nautical miles away. Surrounded by the sea on three sides – east, south, and north – the coastline spans 54 kilometers and was historically referred to as the “Phoenix Island.” During the Ming Dynasty, General Xue Lu, who made significant contributions to the establishment of Beijing as the capital, was buried in the area, where a prominent tomb still stands today in Xuejiadao Village.
