Haishe Ecological Park (海舌生态公园) is situated on the western bank of Erhai Lake, surrounded by water on three sides. The park, shaped like a tongue, extends into Erhai Lake due to the combined effects of the slow flow and compression of the lake water, covering approximately 1.5 miles, hence the name Haishe, meaning the tongue of the lake. Its picturesque scenery features lush greenery, with the lake, blue skies, white clouds, green trees, and grass complementing each other beautifully.

The park boasts dense forests and a diverse range of wildlife. Visitors can admire various rare plants and animals, including water fir, ginkgo, golden monkeys, and egrets. Additionally, the park is equipped with various ecological conservation facilities such as nature reserves, botanical gardens, and animal rescue centers, providing a conducive environment for the survival of wildlife.

At Haishe Ecological Park, visitors can stroll along the lakeside, enjoying different landscapes and capturing photographs. Major attractions include the Stone Bridge, Parrot Island scenic spot, Tongue Tip, Great Stork Island scenic spot, Coffee House, Bird Watching Space, Reed Theater, and Couple Tree. Furthermore, the park features bird-watching facilities where visitors can observe various rare bird species up close, such as black-necked cranes, grey cranes, and black storks, experiencing the marvels and wonders of nature.

Visiting Haishe Ecological Park is often combined with a trip to Xizhou Ancient Town. It’s convenient to ride a bike or take a taxi from the entrance of Xizhou Ancient Town to reach the park. Exploring Haishe Park usually takes around 30 minutes, but finding transportation back can be challenging. Therefore, visitors can ask their driver to wait at the park entrance and return together after the visit.

Location and Transportation

Haishe Ecological Park is located in Jinhe Village, Xizhou Town, on the western bank of Erhai Lake in Dali City, Yunnan Province, China. To get there, visitors can first take a bus to Xizhou Bus Station. From there, they can take a taxi, walk, or ride a bicycle to cover the remaining 3 kilometers to the park.
