Lanzhou Binhe Park (Riverside Park)

Lanzhou Binhe Park

Lanzhou Binhe Park (Lanzhou Riverside Park, 兰州滨河公园) is situated on the southern bank of the Yellow River in Lanzhou, China. It stretches along Binhe Road, which runs parallel to the river. Lanzhou is the only provincial capital city in China through which the Yellow River flows. Taking advantage of this unique geographical feature, the city government developed a 52-kilometer-long riverside road on the southern bank of the Yellow River, known as Dongyantan-Yanxia Road to Xiguchikou in Xigu, which is the longest urban riverside road in China. The road is wide and straight, lined with flower beds and nurseries, earning it the reputation of a “green corridor.”

Visitors to Binhe Park can enjoy the charm of the Yellow River and explore numerous exquisite sculptures along the way, such as Pingsha Luoyan, Bolang, the Ancient Silk Road, Mother Yellow River, and Journey to the West. They can also visit attractions like Zhongshan Iron Bridge, Baita Mountain Park, and Shuiche Garden. During the peak tourist season, visitors may witness ancient skin rafts ferrying passengers across the river, experiencing the traditional charm of “boasting while crossing the Yellow River,” or they can drift on rubber boats along the Yellow River. Binhe Road is often likened to Lanzhou’s “Bund” and has become a popular spot for morning exercises among the elderly and romantic strolls for the young.

For tourists visiting Lanzhou, a trip along Binhe Road from east to west is a must. It offers a blend of natural beauty, historical significance, and cultural heritage, making it a captivating destination for both locals and visitors alike.
