Lianhuashan Park (Lotus Mountain Park) Guide, Shenzhen

Lianhuashan Park, Shenzhen

Lianhuashan Park (莲花山公园, Lotus Mountain Park), established in October 1992 and officially opened on June 23, 1997, is located at the northernmost point of the central district of Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. Spanning an area of 194 hectares, the park features entrances on all sides, with the main entrance situated to the south.

The eastern and southeastern parts of the park are home to expansive grasslands and gentle topography, creating a large lawn area known as the Kite Square, which covers approximately 200,000 square meters. This area is popular for flying kites and enjoying recreational activities against the backdrop of the park’s natural beauty.

To the south, visitors can explore the Coconut Grove Lawn area, which encompasses 80,000 square meters characterized by lawns and palm plants that evoke a tropical and subtropical atmosphere. Adjacent to this area is a scenic artificial lake spanning 50,000 square meters, with a water surface of 30,000 square meters surrounded by 20,000 square meters of greenery. This lake offers a tranquil spot for relaxation and picturesque views.

A hiking trail located to the east of the lake leads directly to the summit of Lianhua Mountain, where visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Shenzhen. The peak features a 4,000-square-meter mountaintop plaza, recognized as the highest outdoor plaza in Shenzhen. At the center of this plaza stands a significant statue of Deng Xiaoping, the chief architect of China’s reform and opening-up policy. The statue, crafted from bronze, stands six meters tall with a pedestal height of 3.68 meters and weighs six tons. On November 14, 2000, former President Jiang Zemin personally inscribed and unveiled the statue, symbolizing the park’s historical importance.

Nestled in the valley at the foot of Lianhua Mountain is the Rainforest Valley, where two streams cascade through the landscape, stretching over 600 meters. This area is adorned with numerous vine and aerial root plants, which, as they grow, will create a lush tropical rainforest environment.
