Mabian Dafengding Nature Reserve (马边大风顶自然保护区) is located in the Mabian County of Leshan City, approximately 167 kilometers away from Leshan. Situated in the transitional zone between the Sichuan Basin and the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, the reserve shares borders with Meigu to the west and Leibo to the south. It spans a narrow and elongated area, with a width of 15.3 kilometers from east to west and a length of 37 kilometers from north to south, covering a total area of 30,164 hectares. The reserve encompasses the main headstreams of four Mabian Rivers, featuring steep terrain, high mountains, and challenging roads, with an average slope of 36°.
Primarily established for the conservation of giant pandas and their natural habitats, Mabian Dafengding Nature Reserve is classified as a forest and wildlife-type natural protection area. The reserve boasts rich biodiversity, with 248 known species belonging to 132 genera and 51 families among the identified plant species. Additionally, there are 268 known species from 75 families and 25 orders of terrestrial vertebrates, making it a valuable repository of wild flora and fauna.

Mabian Dafengding Nature Reserve is situated in Mabian Yi Autonomous County, which is about 400 kilometers (250 miles) away from Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan.
