Nineteen Peaks Scenic Area – Ticket, Opening Hours, Location, and Highlights

Nineteen Peaks Scenic Area

The Nineteen Peaks Scenic Area (十九峰风景区), situated in Xinchang County, Zhejiang Province, covers a total area of 30.6 square kilometers. It comprises five main parts: the Nineteen Peaks, Qianzhang Gorge, Chongyang Palace, Taitou Mountain, and Daotuoxue. With over a hundred natural and cultural attractions, it stands out as a typical Danxia landform in geology and one of the largest Danxia groups in China, also recognized as a national geological park for its petrified wood. Renowned as “Little Guilin” and “Zhangjiajie of Eastern Zhejiang,” this area boasts a breathtaking blend of natural wonders.

Here, the undulating mountains, plateaus, and winding rivers harmonize with the unique landscape features such as peculiar peaks, cascading waterfalls, crystal-clear streams, and secluded valleys, presenting the enchanting charm of nature. The peaks vary in shape, resembling galloping horses, moored ships, or interconnecting passages, forming distinctive tunneling rock landscapes. Ascending the Wanghai Peak offers a panoramic view, capturing the beauty of verdant hills, clear waters, and pastoral villages beneath.

A highlight of the Nineteen Peaks Scenic Area is the Feilong Plank Road, ingeniously constructed along the mountain contours, winding through mountain gaps for a total length of 3200 meters. Notably, there’s a 128-meter glass-bottomed suspended plank section, extending over a precipice, providing visitors with an exhilarating experience and fantastic photo opportunities. The construction of the plank road allows visitors to marvel at the magnificent craftsmanship of nature up close and provides an ideal venue for mountain climbing, exploration, scientific research, and other activities. In recent years, the scenic area has also hosted a variety of events like rock climbing, camping, and music festivals to attract more young tourists seeking adventure and excitement.
